Weight Loss. News

News. It is believed that flavors could be used to influence the size of the portions and thereby assist in weight loss.

It is considered that, normally the size of each bite depends, among other things, the texture of the food we eat. So when you eat a food that needs to be chewed more times, usually will take smaller bites, another trend is also taking smaller bites when we feel satisfied.

Well, a new

research has recently shown that strong scents are associated with a smaller bite size. This study suggests use this condition as a means to control portion sizes.

The smaller bites are associated with lower flavor release could explain why, when we take food unknown or do not like, give smaller bites.

Researchers from the Netherlands, carried out an experiment in which volunteers were provided with a custard-like dessert, while various scents were provided directly to the nose of the participants.

The results were inconclusive, the stronger was the smell, the lower bite size who performed the volunteers, which was associated definitely the smell of food with bite size, but not only the size but the first bite with those made throughout the meal. The experiment suggests that manipulation of the smell of food might reduce bite size by 5-10%. The combination of scent control to control portion sizes, could then help trick your brain into believing you are satisfied with less food, which is related to an aid in weight loss.

I hope that this news has been of interest.
